The Dawood Ibrahim gang, notorious for its influence over Mumbai's satta bazaar, is convinced that the Narendra Modi government will secure a third consecutive term. The underground betting market, with a turnover running into several thousand crore rupees, reflects strong trends favoring the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), albeit with a slightly reduced margin compared to earlier predictions.
Currently, the odds for the NDA forming the next government stand at 1:1, meaning every rupee bet will return Rs1, indicating strong confidence in Modi's return. Conversely, the odds for the opposition INDIA alliance are 1:9, signaling extremely slim chances for their victory.
Initially, punters had predicted that the ruling NDA would comfortably secure around 360 seats as the first phase of voting began on April 19. However, as the seventh and final phase approaches on June 1, this projection has been adjusted to 306 seats. Despite the reduced forecast, this still suggests that the NDA is poised to retain power for a third term.
BJP's claim of securing over 400 seats, however, appears to be highly optimistic and not supported by the current betting trends.
