The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday unveiled its second list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. In a significant reshuffle, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, previously an MLA from Patparganj, will now contest from Jangpura. Sisodia?s previous seat has been allocated to Avadh Ojha, a renowned educationist and YouTuber who recently joined the AAP.
Sisodia expressed his gratitude towards the party, stating, "Patparganj was the heart of the education revolution in Delhi, and I trust Ojha ji will carry forward the legacy. I am honored to represent Jangpura and continue the work we started."
The new list also includes prominent names like Jitender Singh Shunty, contesting from Shahdara, and Surinder Pal Singh Bittu, fielded from Timarpur. Both are recent entrants to AAP after leaving the BJP. Notably, Shunty replaces outgoing Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, and Bittu takes over the Timarpur seat from AAP?s chief whip, Dilip Pandey.
In this list, 17 candidates are new faces, signaling a fresh strategy by the Kejriwal-led party. Rakhi Bidlan will shift from Mangolpuri to Madipur, while Praveen Kumar moves from Jangpura to Janakpuri. AAP has also fielded candidates on two BJP-stronghold seats, Gandhi Nagar and Rohini, reflecting its ambition to expand influence.
With 31 candidates announced across two lists, AAP aims to strengthen its position as the Delhi Assembly elections approach, promising a mix of experience and new leadership.
