A major political controversy erupted on Wednesday after the Delhi government's Women and Child Development Department issued a public notification categorically stating that the so-called 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana' does not exist. The notice came just a day after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched an extensive registration campaign for the scheme, claiming it would provide ?2,100 per month to women in Delhi.
Department?s Stern Warning
In its notification, the department alleged that political parties collecting forms and personal information in the name of the scheme were committing fraud.
?It is clarified that no such scheme has been notified by the Delhi government. Any private person or political party collecting forms or applications in the name of this scheme is committing fraud and has no authority,? the statement read.
The department also emphasized that the collection of information for a non-existent scheme was not only unauthorized but also misleading to the public.

AAP?s Counterclaim
Reacting strongly, AAP chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused political opponents of attempting to undermine his party?s initiatives, including the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana.
?These people are upset with the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They have made a plan to arrest Atishi ji in the next few days by fabricating a fake case. Raids will also be conducted on senior AAP leaders,? Kejriwal posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Kejriwal announced a press conference at noon to address the issue, signaling his party?s intent to challenge the allegations head-on.
Political Implications
The Women and Child Development Department?s notification has raised questions about the AAP's outreach campaign and its legality. Meanwhile, the AAP?s accusations of political vendetta have further deepened the divide between the party and its opponents.
