The shock came after the 2025 BEST Employees’ Co-operative Credit Society elections, where Raj and Uddhav Thackeray’s alliance under the Utkarsh panel suffered a stunning defeat, failing to secure a single seat out of 21. This was particularly embarrassing given the Thackeray family’s nine-year-long dominance over the influential society.

In a sharp contrast, the Shashank Rao-led panel swept the elections, claiming 14 of the 21 seats, while the Mahayuti-backed Sahakar Samruddhi group managed just seven.
