Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major step toward curbing the capital’s persistent air pollution problem. In a significant policy shift, Gupta declared that starting November 1, 2025, only BS6, CNG, or electric commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter the city.

Speaking on the new initiative, the CM said, "From November 1, 2025, any vehicle that comes to Delhi will have to be a BS6, CNG, or EV commercial vehicle. Together, we can deal with the big problem of pollution in Delhi."

To ensure strict enforcement, the government will install Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras at all entry points of Delhi. These high-tech cameras will help in identifying and stopping end-of-life vehicles—those that no longer meet pollution or age standards.

"We will install ANPR cameras at all the entry points of Delhi, which will be able to identify end-of-life vehicles. As soon as the vehicle comes in range, it will be known that this vehicle is end-of-life and spreading pollution, so they will be traced and stopped immediately," Gupta explained.

She further added that these cameras will also be installed at all petrol pumps to monitor and control the refueling of non-compliant vehicles.
