Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda has made a strong allegation about widespread voter irregularities in the state, claiming that fake voters may be the reason behind some candidates’ record victories.
Chavda said, “… The Constitution of the country has given everyone the right to equality; whether it is the Prime Minister of the country or a common citizen of Gujarat, everyone has the right to one vote... A question is being raised in Gujarat about whether a person is casting just one vote or many. To verify this, we began the analysis in one constituency, which falls under the Union Minister C R Paatil. That area has 6 lakh 9 thousand voters, out of which, in the primary investigation, we checked 2 lakh 40 thousand voters. After checking, it is clear that 12.3% of the voters are fake... When the check is completed on that assembly, then there is every possibility of finding up to 75,000 fake voters... And this may be the reason why C R Paatil is winning with a record number of votes.”
He further added, “… All the voter lists of 182 seats will be checked... The analysis conducted so far indicates that 12.3% of the voters were fake. And if this ratio is seen for the whole of Gujarat, then on the basis of this primary data, we can say that more than 62 lakh voters are fake.”
