The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released the second part of its manifesto for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, making key promises focused on education, welfare for working-class individuals, and anti-corruption measures. The party has promised a significant expansion of educational opportunities for the underprivileged, alongside financial assistance for those preparing for competitive exams.
Among the major promises in the manifesto is the provision of free education for students from Kindergarten (KG) to Post-Graduation (PG) at government institutions in Delhi. The party also pledged financial aid for students preparing for competitive exams, with ₹15,000 allocated to assist with expenses such as exam-related travel costs. Additionally, the BJP assured it would cover entrance exam fees twice, helping relieve financial burdens from students seeking higher education opportunities.
A major highlight of the manifesto is the promise of scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) students. The BJP has committed to monthly stipends of ₹1,000 for SC students under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stipend Scheme. This financial support is intended to help SC students enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), polytechnics, and skill centers. The BJP claims this will create a level playing field for SC students and improve their skill development.
Further enhancing its welfare focus, the BJP has promised a welfare board for auto and taxi drivers, offering ₹10 lakh life insurance, ₹5 lakh accident insurance, and subsidies for vehicle insurance. The manifesto also includes provisions for scholarships for the children of auto and taxi drivers, as well as a similar welfare board for domestic workers.
BJP leaders, including former Union Minister Anurag Thakur, highlighted the importance of a "developed Delhi" in the party's long-term vision for a "developed India." The BJP's stance is that public welfare schemes, such as those outlined in the new manifesto, will contribute significantly to Delhi's future growth and development.
Additionally, the BJP pledged to establish a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate corruption cases related to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. The BJP has been critical of the AAP’s alleged corruption issues and seeks to ensure transparency and accountability through this proposed investigation.
The second part of the BJP's manifesto seeks to continue the party’s commitment to public welfare and development, promising a more inclusive, equitable, and transparent governance model for Delhi in the years to come.
