In a horrifying revelation, the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has taken a dark turn with the arrest of Sonam Raghuvanshi, who allegedly plotted the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, just days after their wedding. Reports suggest Sonam offered ₹20 lakh to have Raja killed, using her lover and his acquaintances to execute the plan.

The couple, who tied the knot on May 11 in Indore, had travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. Their family last heard from them on May 23. The next day, their rented scooter was found abandoned, prompting an immediate search operation. After nearly two weeks, Raja’s decomposed body was recovered from a gorge on June 2. His gold chain and ring were missing, raising suspicions of foul play. Sonam, meanwhile, had mysteriously disappeared.

Police investigations revealed that Sonam initially offered ₹4 lakh for the murder, but later increased the amount to ₹20 lakh. She paid ₹15,000 in cash as advance to three men identified as Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Anand Kurmi, who are reportedly friends of her alleged lover, Raj Kushwaha. The remaining payment was promised after the murder was carried out. Authorities stated that Sonam and the accused had first met the couple in Bengaluru before they boarded a connecting flight to Meghalaya together, indicating that the crime was pre-planned.

After Raja’s body was discovered, police launched a manhunt for Sonam. Raj Kushwaha was arrested from Madhya Pradesh while the three contract killers were also taken into custody. The search for Sonam ended on June 9 when she was found in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She had reportedly walked into a local eatery, crying and asking to call her family. A staffer allowed her to use a phone, through which she contacted her brother. Based on this tip-off, authorities reached the location and detained her. She has since surrendered and is now in three-day transit remand with the Meghalaya Police.

Raja’s grieving family has demanded the strictest punishment for all accused, expressing shock that Raj Kushwaha had even visited their home in Indore after Raja’s body arrived. The case continues to send shockwaves across the nation as more chilling details emerge from the ongoing investigation.
