Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, introduced the concept of "Make India Great Again" (MIGA), drawing inspiration from Trump’s well-known slogan, “Make America Great Again” (MAGA).
Addressing a joint press conference, PM Modi stated, “When America and India work together, this MAGA plus MIGA becomes a ‘mega partnership for prosperity.’ It is this mega spirit that gives new scale and scope to our objectives.” He emphasized that both nations are moving forward with a shared vision, aligning India’s "Viksit Bharat 2047" goal with US-India cooperation.
Key highlights of the meeting included setting an ambitious USD 500 billion bilateral trade target by 2030, strengthening energy trade, enhancing defense cooperation, and advancing technology transfers.
PM Modi affirmed, “Our teams will soon finalize a mutually beneficial trade agreement. We are advancing in joint development, production, and technology transfer, ensuring energy security and expanding investment in infrastructure.”
The discussions also focused on deepening nuclear energy collaboration, with PM Modi stating that India and the US are working towards developing small modular reactors for cleaner and sustainable energy.
With defense ties playing a crucial role in India-US relations, PM Modi highlighted that upcoming agreements would introduce new technology and equipment to further strengthen India's security preparedness.
