Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented the state budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the Maharashtra Assembly on Monday. The budget focuses on large-scale economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation.
During his budget speech, Pawar announced an ambitious ₹40 lakh crore investment plan over the next five years, aimed at generating 50 lakh jobs for Maharashtra's citizens. The state government is set to introduce a new Industrial Policy 2025 to drive this initiative forward.
Emphasizing Maharashtra's economic potential, Pawar highlighted plans to transform the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) into a Growth Hub by developing business corridors. He also spoke about introducing new labor laws to strengthen employment opportunities in the state.
Referring to Maharashtra's global outreach, Pawar praised CM Devendra Fadnavis’s participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos, where Maharashtra signed MoUs with 63 companies, securing investments worth ₹15.72 lakh crore, which is expected to create 16 lakh new jobs.
Additionally, the Finance Minister provided an update on the Bengaluru-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, stating that land acquisition is currently underway. This corridor is expected to boost industries in drought-prone areas and drive balanced economic development across the state.
