West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of manipulating electoral rolls by enrolling fake voters from other states with the alleged backing of the Election Commission (EC). Warning of an indefinite dharna outside the EC office, Banerjee vowed to fight until corrective measures are taken.
Addressing a Trinamool Congress (TMC) conference, Banerjee questioned the appointment of Gyanesh Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner, alleging BJP’s influence over the constitutional body. "The BJP is openly manipulating voter lists with the blessings of the Election Commission," she claimed.
Banerjee further alleged that the BJP had used similar tactics in Delhi and Maharashtra, bringing in voters from Haryana and Gujarat to sway elections in its favor. "The BJP knows it cannot win Bengal in a free and fair election, so it is enrolling fake voters from other states," she asserted.
Vowing to expose the alleged electoral fraud, Banerjee declared, "We will identify these fake voters. We will not allow outsiders to capture Bengal!"
