The Anandapur fire incident has triggered sharp political reactions in West Bengal, with senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury launching a direct attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her handling of the tragedy.

Reacting to the incident, Chowdhury accused the state government of neglecting the victims and their families, especially those from poor and marginalised backgrounds. He alleged that repeated fire incidents affecting ordinary citizens have failed to receive serious attention from the chief minister.

Speaking on the issue, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, "Mamata Banerjee has no attention here. She pays more importance to what happened in Maharashtra, what needs to be done in Delhi. There's no clue about the deaths from one fire after another engulfing ordinary poor people in Najirabad, there's no scope for identifying the people... Mamata Banerjee has no time to meet those families, no time to offer condolences."

The Congress leader further highlighted that frequent fire accidents in densely populated areas have exposed serious administrative lapses. He claimed that even basic processes such as identifying victims and providing clarity on the number of deaths are not being handled properly.
