West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has issued a grave warning regarding potential unrest during the upcoming festive season, claiming that certain miscreants are plotting to incite riots during Diwali, Kali Puja, and Chhath Puja. Addressing state officials, Banerjee called for enhanced security measures, urging the police to increase vigilance and prepare for any attempts to disrupt the celebrations.

Banerjee emphasized the need for heightened intelligence operations and the deployment of the Special Task Force (STF) to thwart any such plans. ?Kali Puja is coming soon. Police and Special Task Force must use intelligence to see that no explosions happen. There is a plot to incite communal riots and create violence?that has to be checked,? she stated firmly.

In her address, the Trinamool Congress leader refrained from disclosing the identities of those purportedly involved in the alleged plot but expressed confidence in the police's ability to maintain order. ?We must ensure that no one exploits the festive atmosphere to create unrest,? she added.

Banerjee also appealed to the media to exercise caution, urging them to avoid sensationalizing the situation, which could lead to unnecessary panic among the public. ?I do not want communal tension in Bengal. The police will take strict action against any provocateurs, but I urge the media not to sensationalize this? Please avoid provoking the public,? she remarked.

These statements come on the heels of Cyclone Dana, which recently swept through the state, leading to the evacuation of approximately 2.16 lakh people from low-lying areas. While reviewing the cyclone's impact, Banerjee reiterated her commitment to ensuring communal harmony in the aftermath of the storm.

As authorities worked to resume flights, railways, and bus services swiftly following the cyclone, Banerjee confirmed that one death was linked to the disaster, highlighting the ongoing need for relief efforts in affected districts. She directed officials to ensure that relief materials reach all those impacted by the cyclone, stressing the importance of stability as the festive season approaches.

With tensions high and the festive atmosphere at stake, Banerjee's proactive measures aim to maintain peace and order in West Bengal during a time traditionally marked by celebration and joy.
