NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday addressed the ongoing debate over Maratha reservation, emphasizing the community’s need for inclusion while cautioning against creating friction with other groups like the OBCs.
Speaking on the matter, Pawar cited Tamil Nadu’s 72% reservation policy as an example and stressed that the Centre should take a firm decision, even if it requires amending the Constitution. “Marathas need reservation to join the mainstream, but hostility with OBCs must be avoided,” he said, highlighting the importance of social harmony alongside affirmative action.
