The already sensational Meerut murder case took an unexpected twist on Monday, November 24, when accused Muskan Rastogi gave birth to a baby girl inside a hospital under police security — coincidentally on the birthday of her husband, Saurabh Rajput, whom she allegedly murdered earlier this year.
Muskan, who was in the ninth month of her pregnancy, reportedly complained of intense labour pain late Sunday night inside the jail barracks. Jail officials immediately shifted her to a government medical college hospital, where she delivered her second daughter safely. Doctors later confirmed that both mother and child are stable.
Her delivery has triggered a new layer of controversy in the high-profile murder case. Family sources indicated that they intend to conduct a DNA test on the newborn to determine the child’s paternity — a decision that has further fuelled public speculation. As news of the birth spread, a crowd gathered outside the hospital, prompting authorities to increase security to prevent any disruption.
The brutal case dates back to March 3, when Muskan and her alleged partner Sahil Shukla were accused of murdering Saurabh Rajput, allegedly dismembering his body and concealing the remains in a blue plastic drum filled with cement. The crime came to light on March 18, after Muskan purportedly confessed to her mother, leading to the arrest of both accused.
The matter is currently being heard in the court of District Judge Sanjeev Pandey. Both Muskan and Sahil remain in judicial custody, with their bail pleas rejected earlier.
