Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday reiterated his strong allegations of vote theft, targeting both the Election Commission (EC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a large crowd at the ‘Vote Adhikar Rally’ held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru, Gandhi accused the BJP’s ideology of being against the Constitution of India and vowed that every Congress leader and worker would stand firm in protecting it.
Demanding transparency, Rahul Gandhi urged the Election Commission to immediately release voter lists and video recordings from the past decade. “The Election Commission of India should give us the voter lists and video recordings from the last 10 years immediately,” he asserted, emphasizing the need for public accountability.
Highlighting alleged vote tampering in Karnataka and other states, Gandhi issued a stern warning to the Election Commission, stating, “If you think you can get away with attacking the Constitution, think again.” He pledged to hold those responsible accountable, adding, “It may take time, but we will do it, one by one.”
Responding to the Election Commission’s demand that he provide an affidavit regarding his claims, Rahul Gandhi said that he had already taken an oath on the Constitution as a member of Parliament. He criticized the EC for shutting down its website amid growing public scrutiny. “The Election Commission knows that if the public starts questioning them, their entire structure will collapse,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi also challenged the Election Commission to share electronic data from past elections, promising that the Congress party could conclusively prove that Narendra Modi became Prime Minister through vote theft. “If the Election Commission provides us with the electronic data, we will prove, loud and clear, that Narendra Modi became Prime Minister by stealing votes,” he declared.
Explaining the origin of these allegations, Gandhi detailed the Congress party’s independent investigation into vote irregularities in the Mahadevapura Assembly constituency within the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha seat. According to him, the findings were startling: “Out of 6.5 lakh votes, 1,00,250 votes were stolen. Meaning, the BJP stole one out of every six votes.”
