In a majestic ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9, President Droupadi Murmu officially appointed Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of India, along with 30 cabinet ministers, 36 Ministers of State (MoS), and 5 MoS with independent charge. This significant event marked the continuation of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for a third consecutive term.
At the ceremonial event, President Murmu administered the oaths of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Council of Ministers. "The President of India has appointed Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi as the Prime Minister of India. Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has appointed the following as members of the Council of Ministers," read an official statement.
Key Cabinet Ministers Sworn In
Among those sworn in as Cabinet Ministers were prominent leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Jagat Prakash Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. Other notable figures included Manohar Lal, HD Kumaraswamy, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Jitan Ram Manjhi.

The following were appointed as Ministers of State with Independent Charge: Rao Inderjit Singh, Jitendra Singh, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jadhav Prataprao Ganpatrao, and Jayant Chaudhary.

A diverse group of leaders, including Jitin Prasada, Shripad Yesso Naik, Pankaj Chaudhary, Krishan Pal, Ramdas Athawale, Ram Nath Thakur, and Nityanand Rai, took their oaths as Ministers of State. This list also included Anupriya Patel, V. Somanna, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, SP Singh Baghel, Sushri Sobha Karandlaje, Kirtivardhan Singh, BL Verma, and Shantanu Thakur, among others.

PM Modi's council of ministers is a mix of seasoned leaders and fresh faces. Senior BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S Jaishankar took the oath, alongside several young leaders and first-time MPs. Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi, the first BJP MP from Kerala, and Harsh Malhotra, an MP from East Delhi, are notable new entrants to the union cabinet. BJP chief JP Nadda also took the oath as a union minister, hinting at a potential new party chief.
A Record Third Term
The BJP-led NDA secured its third successive term following the Lok Sabha elections, the results of which were declared on June 4. The NDA won 293 seats, with the BJP securing 240 seats.

The newly appointed union cabinet is expected to hold a meeting at 5 pm today to discuss the roadmap for the upcoming term.
