In a significant development, India and Pakistan have agreed to cease all military action following a conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) from both countries earlier today. The call, which took place at 15:35 IST, was a crucial step in de-escalating tensions at the border.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the details of the discussion, stating, "Pakistan's Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time."
The understanding reached today is set to come into effect at 5:00 PM IST, with both sides receiving instructions to halt any military actions in accordance with the agreement. Misri further mentioned that, "The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours."
