PM Modi Reaffirms Call For Dialogue After Speaking With Netanyahu, Chairs High-Level Security Review On West Asia Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reaffirmed India’s position that rising tensions in West Asia must be addressed through diplomatic engagement rather than military escalation. His remarks came amid intensifying regional instability following recent military developments involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Stressing India’s long-standing foreign policy approach, Modi said that dialogue remains the only sustainable path forward and added that cooperation between democratic nations strengthens efforts to promote global stability.

The Prime Minister’s statement followed a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during which the evolving security situation in West Asia was discussed. According to sources, India reiterated its consistent call for restraint and peaceful resolution of disputes.

On Sunday night, Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in New Delhi to assess the implications of recent developments, including reported US-Israeli military actions against Iran and the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. While officials confirmed that the meeting took place, no formal statement detailing its conclusions was released.

The high-level meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Senior officials briefed the committee on security conditions across the Gulf and potential consequences for India’s strategic and economic interests.

Sources indicated that the safety of Indian citizens residing in West Asia was a key focus of the discussions, along with contingency planning in case the conflict expands. Authorities are also closely monitoring the status of Indian nationals currently in transit or temporarily stranded due to regional disruptions.

Government officials said India remains engaged with international partners and will continue to review the situation as it evolves.
