At the first general council meeting of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), party chief and actor Vijay issued a strong warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Union government's alleged plans to reduce Tamil Nadu's parliamentary seats through delimitation.
"In the name of delimitation, you (Union Government) are trying to reduce Tamil Nadu Parliament seats. PM sir, we understand your plans when you spoke about one nation, one election. Sir (PM Modi), handle Tamil Nadu carefully. Tamil Nadu is a state which has shown its power many times... I would say be careful sir," Vijay said, making his stance clear.
The actor-turned-politician also made a bold declaration about the state's political future, asserting that the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections will be a two-party fight between Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and the ruling DMK. "In 2026, the fight is between only two parties, one is Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the other one is DMK," Vijay stated, setting the stage for an intense electoral battle.
With Vijay's entry into politics already shaking up Tamil Nadu's political landscape, his latest remarks have sparked widespread reactions across political circles. While the DMK has yet to respond to his challenge, BJP leaders have dismissed his warning, calling it "mere theatrics."
