Jan Suraaj founder and political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor launched a blistering attack on Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, dismissing his ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar as nothing more than a hollow political exercise.
“Rahul Gandhi is 55 years old, yet apart from election season, he has never spent even a single night in Bihar. I doubt if he even knows the names of all 40 districts of the state,” Kishor said in remarks that have triggered a heated debate in Bihar’s political circles.
Targeting the Congress-RJD alliance, Kishor alleged that the Congress had been reduced to playing second fiddle in Bihar politics. He asserted that Gandhi’s yatra would yield no political dividends for the party. “Those who today claim to fight for voter rights were the same people who looted booths and stole votes in the past,” he said, drawing sharp criticism from Congress workers.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi pressed ahead with the third day of his 16-day Voter Adhikar Yatra from Gaya, accompanied by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI(M) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya. The campaign, which aims to highlight alleged vote theft and irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, will cover around 1,300 km across 20 districts, concluding with a mega rally in Patna on September 1.
