Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a ride on the Delhi Metro on Thursday to connect with everyday people. A photo of Gandhi on the metro quickly went viral on social media. He chatted with passengers and took pictures with them. Gandhi was heading to a rally in Mangolpuri, along with Kanhaiya Kumar, the Congress candidate for the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat. Voting in Delhi is set for May 25, and today is the last day of campaigning.
At a rally in Dilshad Garden, northeast Delhi, Gandhi accused the BJP of wanting to "tear and throw away" the Constitution. He said the current election is a fight to protect it. Gandhi claimed that the BJP has always wanted to change the Constitution.
"These people (BJP) have always wanted to tear and throw it (Constitution) away. They never accepted either the Indian Constitution or the Indian flag. In this election, they have finally accepted that they want to change it," Gandhi said.
He emphasized that the Constitution is not just a book, but carries the heritage of leaders like Gandhi, Ambedkar, and Nehru. He warned that if the BJP tries to change the Constitution, they will face strong opposition from both political rivals and millions of citizens. "I want to tell them (BJP) you don't have the dare to do it (change Constitution). You will have to face us and the millions of people of India if you attempt it," Gandhi added.
