Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), accusing them of crossing all limits of decency after “abusive” remarks were raised against his mother during a rally in Bihar.
Addressing nearly 20 lakh women via video conferencing, PM Modi said the incident was not just a personal attack but a humiliation of every mother, sister, and daughter of India.
“Maa hi toh humara sandar hoti hain. Maa hi humara swabhiman hoti hain. (Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect). I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar,” the Prime Minister said with visible emotion.
He strongly condemned the alleged slogans raised from the Congress-RJD stage in Darbhanga during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’. “RJD-Congress ke manch se meri maa ko galliyan di gyi (My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar)... These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the country,” he said.
PM Modi became emotional while recalling the incident, asserting that the people of Bihar shared the same grief. “I know... how bad all of you, every mother of Bihar, felt after seeing and hearing this! I know, as much pain as I have in my heart, the people of Bihar are also in the same pain,” he said.
Taking a direct jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Modi remarked that he could never understand such pain. “Rahul Gandhi was born with a silver spoon in a royal family. He cannot understand the struggles and pain of poor mothers,” he said.
The Prime Minister further accused the opposition of harboring an “anti-women mindset.” “This mindset considers women to be objects of exploitation and oppression. Therefore, whenever the anti-women mindset has come to power, mothers, sisters and daughters have suffered the most. During the RJD era, crime and criminals were rampant in Bihar,” Modi declared.
Drawing parallels with the past, he recalled the lawlessness of the RJD regime. “When murder, ransom and rape were common. The RJD government used to give protection to murderers and rapists. Who had to bear the brunt of that RJD rule? The women of Bihar had to bear it,” he added.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi also virtually launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
