Senior Delhi Congress leader and New Delhi Assembly candidate Sandeep Dikshit has filed civil and criminal defamation lawsuits against AAP leaders Atishi and MP Sanjay Singh over allegations made during a press conference on December 26, 2024.

Atishi and Sanjay Singh had accused Dikshit of accepting "crores of rupees" from the BJP to sabotage AAP's prospects in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Dikshit denied the claims, calling them baseless and defamatory, and is seeking ₹10 crore in damages for harm to his reputation.

The Delhi High Court, presided over by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, was set to hear the civil defamation case on Monday but adjourned the matter to February. Advocate Sarim Javed represented Dikshit in court.

In a related criminal defamation case, the Rouse Avenue court issued notices to Atishi and Sanjay Singh, asking them to appear on January 27, 2025, to respond to the charges. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Paras Dalal issued the notices.

Dikshit's complaint highlighted that Atishi had shared the press conference live on her X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption: "BJP is helping Congress in the Delhi election." The tweet, viewed over 30,000 times, and the subsequent media coverage allegedly caused further damage to Dikshit’s reputation.
