In a strong show of solidarity with the judiciary, the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has passed a resolution condemning the recent remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Nishikant Dubey, stating that his comments have seriously undermined the dignity and authority of the Supreme Court and its presiding judge.
The SCBA has urged Attorney General R Venkataramani to grant consent for initiating contempt proceedings against Dubey, emphasizing that his statements have cast aspersions on Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna and the integrity of the apex court.
