Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday confirmed that nine bodies have been recovered and six individuals rescued following the tragic collapse of the Gambhira bridge in Vadodara’s Padra-Mujpur area. The bridge, a vital link between Anand and Vadodara, caved in during morning hours, plunging several vehicles into the Mahisagar River.

Speaking to the media, Sanghavi said, “The Chief Minister took immediate cognizance of the incident and dispatched a high-level committee to the site in the morning. He has sought a detailed report on the circumstances of the collapse at the earliest.”

The Chief Minister also directed teams from the Roads and Buildings Department and other relevant agencies to rush to the spot and initiate concrete safety and restoration measures. According to Sanghavi, the government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

Rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing with support from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local emergency teams. Cranes and divers are assisting in retrieving trapped vehicles and locating potential victims in the river.
