In a sharp political attack, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Yogesh Kadam on Tuesday accused Uddhav Thackeray of completely adopting Congress’s ideology, drifting away from the principles of his father, Balasaheb Thackeray.

“Uddhav Thackeray has accepted the ideology of Congress. He no longer follows Bala Saheb’s ideas; he currently follows Congress’s ideology,” Kadam told reporters in Mumbai, criticising Thackeray’s recent positions on key national security laws. “In my opinion, if laws like these have been made to make the country safer, then what is wrong if they get passed? I believe the detailed information will be provided to all of you by the honorable Chief Minister. But whether this bill will come in this session or not will be decided by our senior leaders,” he added.

Separately, reacting to Samajwadi Party state president and MLA Abu Asim Azmi being granted bail in a hate speech case, Kadam lashed out at Azmi’s past statements praising Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

“Living in Maharashtra and praising Aurangzeb is absolutely not acceptable anywhere,” he declared, calling such remarks an insult to the legacy and pride of Maharashtra.
