In a significant development in the Pune Porsche accident case, Shivani Agrawal, the mother of the minor accused, has been arrested by Pune Police. This follows revelations that her blood samples were used to replace those of her son, according to Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, as reported by ANI.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed on Saturday that the blood samples of the juvenile were switched with those of his mother, Shivani Agrawal, to mislead the investigation. "The accident investigation revealed that the juvenile's blood samples were replaced with those of his mother," Kumar told PTI.
This arrest comes just a day after a Pune court remanded the juvenile's father, Vishal Agarwal, and grandfather, Surendra Agarwal, to judicial custody for 14 days. They face charges of kidnapping and wrongfully confining their driver, whom they allegedly coerced into taking the blame for the fatal crash that killed two software engineers on May 19.
The accused were produced before Judicial Magistrate A. A. Pande, following their prior police remand. Police reports indicate that the driver was present with the juvenile in the Porsche during the crash in Pune's Kalyani Nagar area. The father-son duo allegedly confined the driver in their home and threatened him, until his wife managed to free him from the servant quarters.
The minor is currently held in an observation home until June 5. The case took a dramatic turn when police discovered that the juvenile's blood samples had been tampered with at Sassoon General Hospital. This manipulation was intended to show the minor was not intoxicated at the time of the crash. As a result, Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, and hospital employee Atul Ghatkamble were also arrested for their involvement in the tampering.
