In a breakthrough development following the grenade attack outside BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia's residence, Punjab Police have revealed crucial links between the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang and the banned Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
According to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, two key conspirators in the attack have been identified: Zeeshan Akhtar, a Jalandhar-based gangster with a criminal history, and Shahzad Bhatti, a Pakistani national who had earlier claimed responsibility for a separate grenade attack in the region.
Zeeshan, who was released from prison in June 2024, is also under investigation for his alleged involvement in the 2024 killing of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai. Police officials say Bhatti has been an active presence on social media, using platforms to justify violent attacks while maintaining connections with global criminal figures, including Lawrence Bishnoi.
A TikTok video recently emerged, allegedly showing Bhatti, Zeeshan, and Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia in conversation. The video is now central to the ongoing investigation. Intelligence inputs have further indicated that Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, who is believed to be based in Pakistan, and Happy Passia, reportedly located in the United States, are key players in the formation and support of terror modules.
Authorities also suspect that Zeeshan is currently in the UAE, while Bhatti holds a Moroccan passport. The police believe the attacks are part of a larger coordinated effort, possibly supported by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), which aims to unite disparate ideological and criminal factions under a shared anti-India agenda.
