Rahul Gandhi Criticizes PM Modi: Rich Teen Gets Essay, Truck And Ola Drivers Get Jail

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi in response to a recent decision by the Juvenile Justice Board. The board asked the accused in the Pune Porsche accident case to write an essay as a form of punishment. Gandhi expressed his discontent through a video statement on X, captioning it, "Narendra Modi is creating two Indias - where even justice is dependent on wealth."

Gandhi argued that there is a stark contrast in how justice is served based on one's economic status. "If a driver of a bus, truck, or Ola-Uber accidentally kills someone in a road accident, he is sent to jail for ten years and the vehicle is confiscated. But, if a 16 or 17-year-old from a rich family drives a Porsche in an inebriated state and kills two people, he is asked to write an essay. Will other drivers be asked the same? Justice should be equal for everyone," he said in the video.

The Juvenile Justice Board in Pune had granted bail to the teenager involved in the accident, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals. As part of the bail conditions, the teenager was asked to write a 300-word essay, visit the Regional Transport Office to study traffic rules, and submit a presentation to the Board within 15 days. However, the police announced on Monday that they would seek permission from a higher court to prosecute the teenager as an adult.
