The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has issued a show-cause notice to Rajasthan cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena after he accused his own government of phone tapping and surveillance. The party has deemed his remarks as a violation of party discipline and has asked him to submit a clarification within three days.
The notice, issued by state BJP president Madan Rathore on instructions from the party’s high command, criticizes Meena for making allegations that tarnish the image of the BJP-led government. It also mentions that he reportedly offered his resignation from the Council of Ministers, a move that grabbed headlines.
“You are a BJP MLA from Sawai Madhopur and a cabinet minister in the Rajasthan government. Recently, you made statements about phone tapping and leaked news of your resignation to the media. Such baseless allegations damage the party’s credibility,” the notice states.
Reacting to the notice, Kirori Lal Meena claimed he has not received any official communication yet. “I am a disciplined party worker and will respond in due time,” he said in a brief statement.
His allegations of government surveillance, made during a recent public meeting, have sparked controversy within the party. The incident has also fueled political debates in Rajasthan, with the opposition keeping a close watch on the unfolding developments.
