In a fiery exchange in Parliament on Monday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of spreading misinformation about national security and the Agnipath scheme. Singh declared his readiness to set the record straight in Parliament.
Shortly after Gandhi launched an attack on the Union Budget, Singh countered, accusing the opposition of creating false narratives. He assured that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would address these misconceptions in her budget response.
“Our jawans safeguard our borders with immense dedication. National security is not to be trivialized. There are misleading attempts regarding the Agniveer scheme. I am prepared to make a comprehensive statement whenever allowed,” Singh affirmed.
The tension arose when Gandhi alleged that Singh’s claim of ₹1 crore compensation for an Agniveer martyr’s family was misleading, asserting it was merely an insurance payout.

In a dramatic twist, Gandhi accused the government of trapping the nation’s youth, farmers, women, and small businesses in a “Chakravyuh,” a reference to a complex war formation from the Mahabharata, controlled by a core group of six individuals, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Thousands of years ago in Kurukshetra, six warriors ensnared Abhimanyu in a ‘Chakravyuh’ and killed him. My research shows ‘Chakravyuh’ is also known as ‘Padmavyuh’ – a Lotus formation. In the 21st century, we face a new ‘Chakravyuh’ – a Lotus. Today, six figures dominate this formation: Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, Ambani, and Adani. They are doing to India what was done to Abhimanyu – entrapping the youth, farmers, women, and small businesses,” Gandhi declared.
In his rebuttal, Singh highlighted the Agnipath scheme’s role in enhancing military capabilities while providing youth with valuable career opportunities. He urged the opposition to refrain from spreading misinformation, especially on critical national security issues.
