In a landmark decision, the Delhi BJP Legislative Party has elected Rekha Gupta, a seasoned BJP leader and former student activist, as its leader, paving the way for her to become Delhi’s next Chief Minister. The 50-year-old lawyer-turned-politician, known for her grassroots connect and dynamic leadership, is set to take oath on February 20, marking a new chapter in Delhi’s political landscape.

Gupta, who currently serves as the General Secretary of Delhi BJP, has had an illustrious political career. She rose to prominence as the President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1996-97, later transitioning into mainstream politics. Her journey includes serving as a Councillor from Uttari Pitampura, Mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation, and National Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha.

In the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections, Gupta secured a decisive victory from the Shalimar Bagh (North-West) constituency, garnering 68,200 votes, a testament to her popularity and dedication to public service.
