In a strong show of solidarity, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to express his deep condolences over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack claimed several innocent lives, prompting widespread outrage and condemnation across the globe.

As per Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, President Putin "strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam" and conveyed his "deepest condolences on the loss of innocent lives." During the conversation, he reaffirmed Russia’s unwavering support to India in its fight against terrorism.

"He emphasised that the perpetrators of the heinous attack and their supporters must be brought to justice," said Jaiswal, underlining Russia’s firm stance against terrorism in all forms.

The call also saw both leaders reiterating their commitment to further strengthening the "India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership," a cornerstone of bilateral ties rooted in decades of cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi, in turn, conveyed warm greetings to President Putin on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day — a significant event in Russia commemorating the triumph over Nazi Germany in World War II.
