With the Delhi Assembly elections fast approaching, Congress leader Sachin Pilot has criticized the ongoing tussle for dominance between the AAP-led Delhi government and the BJP-led central government, claiming that the people of Delhi are bearing the brunt of this political struggle.
Speaking at a press conference in Udaipur on Monday, Pilot expressed confidence in the Congress’ prospects in the Delhi polls and positioned his party as the “better option” for voters seeking effective governance.
“There is a battle of supremacy between the Delhi government and the central government, and the people are suffering because of it,” Pilot remarked. He emphasized that the Congress Party has presented a strong alternative and expressed optimism that Delhi voters would choose the party in the upcoming elections.
Congress Promises for Delhi
Pilot highlighted the Congress Party’s development-oriented legacy under former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, asserting that the party’s policies and guarantees resonate with the aspirations of Delhiites.
The Congress’ five key promises for the Delhi elections include:
- Affordable Cooking Gas: LPG cylinders at ₹500.
- Free Essentials: Free ration kits and up to 300 units of electricity.
- Women Empowerment: A monthly grant of ₹2,500 for women under the ‘Pyaari Didi Yojana.’
- Healthcare Security: Free health insurance of up to ₹25 lakh under the ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana.’
- Youth Support: Financial assistance of ₹8,500 per month for educated unemployed youths for one year.
Hope for Change
Pilot urged Delhi voters to recall the strides made under the Congress’ past leadership and assured them that the party is committed to delivering on its promises. “We will fight strongly, and the Congress will do well in the Delhi polls,” he affirmed.
