Sam Pitroda, the chairman of the Overseas Congress and a close aide to Rahul Gandhi, has stirred controversy yet again with his remarks advocating for the settlement of illegal immigrants in India. His statement has drawn sharp criticism from the ruling BJP, which has accused the Congress of compromising national interests.

In a one-minute video clip that has gone viral, Pitroda can be heard saying, “If they want to come here, even illegally, let them come. We should include everybody. If we have to suffer a little bit, it’s okay. We will share, but nobody wants to share. They want to keep their pie bigger and bigger.”

Pitroda also criticized the Modi government, accusing it of failing to address issues like illegal migration. While he acknowledged that illegal migration is not ideal, he suggested that the focus should be on broader concerns like global warming rather than rejecting immigrants.

The remarks provided ammunition to the BJP, with its National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari calling Pitroda's statement "outrageous." In a post on X, Bhandari said, “Rahul Gandhi’s right-hand man Sam Pitroda’s statement advocating for illegal migrants to settle in India, even at the country’s expense, is shocking and irresponsible. Now you wonder how Congress, for the last 70 years, worked overtime to settle illegals in our country!”
