Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Monday described the reported death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a development with serious international implications, asserting that the Iranian cleric had historically shared positive relations with India.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Raut said Khamenei was a powerful figure in global affairs whose influence extended far beyond Iran’s borders. He added that the late leader’s political standing and ideological authority had shaped Tehran’s engagement with multiple countries, including India.

Raut maintained that Khamenei had, on various occasions, taken positions that were seen as supportive of India’s interests.
