Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has weighed in on the ongoing political debate triggered by Karnataka Minister and Congress leader Priyank Kharge, who recently demanded a ban on RSS activities in government premises.
Speaking to the media, Raut said, “The tallest statue of Sardar Patel ji was constructed by Narendra Modi ji in Gujarat. He is their and also our idol. I had earlier said on record in Parliament too that if Sardar Patel had become the Prime Minister, then Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not have been born.”
Raut’s remarks come amid a heated political exchange in Karnataka, where Kharge and MLC B K Hariprasad called for curbing RSS programs, citing their influence on youth and public spaces. The Congress’ move drew sharp criticism from expelled BJP leader Basangouda Patil Yatnal, who termed Kharge’s demand as “intellectual bankruptcy,” asserting that RSS enjoys widespread support even among its critics.
