Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday emphasized the importance of the Vice President election, calling on MPs from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to vote in line with the country’s democratic principles and national interest.
Addressing the media, Raut said, “The country's MPs cast their votes for the post of Vice President, be it Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha. Yesterday, the Prime Minister attended a mock session. Today, our MPs will hold a mock session. This election is being conducted to safeguard the constitution, democracy, and national interest.”
He raised concerns about the absence of the former Vice President, adding, “Where our previous Vice President is, I don’t know. Until Mr. Dhankhar makes a public appearance or comes out in public, we will keep asking where our former Vice President is. All MPs should vote keeping this in mind. If someone who speaks for democracy is made to disappear in this manner, then I believe the democracy of the country is in danger.”
