Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Thursday dismissed the exit poll predictions that showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) poised to win the Delhi Assembly election, calling the predictions unreliable.
“If companies that give massages and run spas conduct exit polls, then you know what will be the condition of exit polls. I would only request everyone to wait till February 8,” Singh told a news agency, expressing confidence in AAP’s performance.
Singh, who has been a vocal critic of the BJP, further asserted that the AAP would form the next government in Delhi with a “massive majority,” claiming that the party’s issues resonated with the people of Delhi. “AAP is going to form the government in Delhi with a massive majority. The people agree with issues raised by us,” Singh added.
The remarks come after several exit polls projected a victory for the BJP, with the Congress likely to face another defeat. The Matrize exit poll, for instance, predicted a close contest, projecting the BJP to secure 35-40 seats, while AAP was expected to win 32-37 seats. Congress was expected to bag zero to one seat.
The People’s Pulse exit poll predicted a stronger showing for the BJP-led NDA with 51-60 seats, while AAP was projected to win just 10-19 seats. Congress, according to the survey, would fail to secure any seats. Similarly, the People’s Insight exit poll forecast the BJP to get 40-44 seats, with AAP securing 25-29 seats, and Congress getting zero to one seat.
The P-Marq exit poll showed 39-49 seats for the BJP and its allies, 21-31 for AAP, and zero to one for Congress. The JVC exit poll also projected a victory for the BJP with 39-45 seats, AAP at 22-31 seats, and Congress at zero to two seats.
