The Supreme Court has set May 20 as the next date for hearing the Waqf Amendment Act case, with a focus on the issue concerning identity release. The matter was heard on Thursday before the Chief Justice’s Bench, comprising Justice Bhosale, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, Justice Sanjay Kumar, and Justice K.V. Viswanathan.
Speaking on the development, Advocate Dr. Syed Ejaz Abbas Naqvi stated, "Today, the matter was heard before the Chief Justice Bench comprising Justice Bhoshan, Ramkrishna Gawai, Sanjay Kumar, and K.V. Vishwanathan. The bench observed that the case concerning identity release needs to be heard first and scheduled the hearing for the 20th of this month, Tuesday."
He further informed that the court will be going on vacation soon. "The Supreme Court will be closed after the 26th of this month and will remain closed until July 16, 2025," he said.
