In a significant political blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and senior leader Manish Sisodia lost the Jangpura Assembly seat in the 2025 Delhi elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah emerged victorious by a narrow margin, while Congress’s Farhad Suri finished in a distant third position.

Sisodia, a founding member of AAP, graciously accepted the defeat and expressed gratitude to his supporters. “Party workers fought well; we all worked hard. People supported us, but I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the winning candidate and hope he will work for the constituency,” he said while speaking to reporters.

This election marked Sisodia’s first attempt from the Jangpura constituency. Previously, he had successfully contested from Patparganj, winning the seat three consecutive times in 2013, 2015, and 2020. However, the shifting political landscape in Delhi, heavily influenced by the BJP’s aggressive campaign and allegations against AAP, led to major electoral losses for the ruling party.

According to the latest Election Commission trends, the BJP is on course to reclaim power in Delhi after 27 years. The saffron party is currently leading in 48 seats, while AAP is ahead in only 22. The Congress, which once dominated Delhi politics, has failed to open its account for the third consecutive time.

With the BJP securing a strong mandate, the Delhi election results signal a major political shift, marking the end of AAP’s dominance in the capital.
