In a sudden development that has sparked concern across Maharashtra’s political circles, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. The move comes just days after he was discharged from a Pune-based hospital following treatment for dehydration.
Discharged From Pune, Admitted in Mumbai
The 85-year-old Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament had earlier been treated at Ruby Hall Clinic for mild dehydration. Hospital sources had confirmed that he responded well to treatment and was discharged earlier this week after routine investigations, including blood tests and a CT scan, showed normal results.
Doctors had administered intravenous fluids and precautionary antibiotics. Medical experts indicated that the dehydration was caused by reduced fluid intake and mild weakness — conditions commonly seen in elderly patients.
After returning to Mumbai, Pawar was advised complete rest and limited public interaction for a few days.
Political Leaders Visit to Enquire
Soon after news of his admission in Mumbai surfaced, several prominent leaders reached out to enquire about his health. Senior BJP leader Ashish Shelar reportedly visited the hospital to check on Pawar’s condition and wish him a speedy recovery.
A day earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut had also met the veteran leader to enquire about his health. The visits underline Pawar’s continued influence across party lines in Maharashtra politics.
Doctors Recommend Rest & Limited Engagements
Medical professionals have advised Pawar to take adequate rest for at least two to three days before gradually resuming official duties. They have also recommended minimizing outdoor engagements and maintaining a balanced diet along with proper hydration.
Sources close to the NCP chief stated that he is stable and under observation. A follow-up medical review has been scheduled after two weeks.
Recent Health Concerns Raise Attention
Earlier this month, Pawar had also been admitted to the Pune hospital due to chest congestion and breathing discomfort. After successful treatment, he was discharged within a few days.
