Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey on Monday indicated that the party, led by Uddhav Thackeray, might contest the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections independently, without forming alliances with the Congress or Sharad Pawar’s NCP.
Dubey shared that the suggestion to go solo has been gaining traction among Shiv Sainiks across Maharashtra. “The feedback from Shiv Sainiks to the party high command is clear—they believe contesting the elections alone will boost morale among workers and provide more opportunities for individuals to participate in the polls,” Dubey told ANI.
He emphasized that while the workers strongly favor an independent contest, the final call rests with the party leadership. “Our workers are urging us to go solo, and there’s significant enthusiasm for the idea. However, the ultimate decision will be made by the high command,” he added.
The indication comes amid ongoing political maneuvers in Maharashtra, where alliances and strategies for the local body elections are being closely watched. A solo move by Shiv Sena (UBT) could reshape the dynamics of the BMC elections, historically considered a stronghold for the party.
