In a fiery social media post, BJP leader and former Union Minister Subramanian Swamy leveled personal allegations against Congress candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election for Kerala’s Wayanad constituency. Swamy claimed that Vadra “suffers from bipolarity,” a condition he asserted could lead to “sudden violent behavior, unbecoming of an MP.” He further urged Wayanad voters to support the BJP candidate instead, suggesting that Priyanka’s condition could impair her effectiveness as a public representative.
Swamy, known for his critiques across political lines, shared this statement on X, where he posted: “Ms. Priyanka Vadra should declare in the by-election campaign in Kerala that she suffers from bipolarity, hence causing her to sudden violent behavior, which will be unbecoming of an MP.”
The Wayanad by-election follows Rahul Gandhi’s decision to vacate the seat while retaining Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress opted to nominate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to replace her brother, a move seen as a bid to maintain the party’s influence in Kerala.
The by-poll, originally scheduled for November 13, will now take place on November 20. Priyanka Gandhi will face BJP candidate Navya Haridas, a two-term Kozhikode Corporation Councillor, and CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri in a high-stakes contest.
