Subramanian Swamy Launches Scathing Attack On PM Says, ‘Modi Has Been Summoned By Putin To Come To Russia’

Ahead of PM Modi's Russia visit, Subramanian Swamy criticizes his diplomatic strategies, calling him a 'Panchatantra Bat' and questioning his handling of the China border issue. Modi is set to discuss the Ukraine conflict and other key topics with President Putin

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares for his upcoming visit to Russia on July 8-9, senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has launched a fresh and pointed critique. In a series of posts on social media platform X, Swamy referred to Modi as a ‘Panchatantra Bat,’ accusing him of inconsistency in his international stance.

On Saturday, Subramanian Swamy wrote, “Modi has been summoned by Putin to come to Russia. At the same time, the US is holding a meeting with QUAD members minus India. Modi is now a full-fledged Panchatantra Bat. In Moscow, Modi will perform shashtang dandawat before Putin. Translation will be done by a Sanskrit-fluent Russian lady.” This provocative comment underscores Swamy’s critical view of Modi’s diplomatic strategies, especially in the context of global power dynamics.

Swamy’s criticism didn’t stop there. He also addressed the ongoing border tensions with China, accusing PM Modi of inaction. “China’s Xi Jinping has told a frightened Modi and the mouse Jaishankar where to get off. For the last 4 years, the Chinese have been gobbling Indian land, and all that a shivering Modi has said was, ‘Koi Aaya Nahin…’. If Modi does not drive out the Chinese, then he must resign,” Swamy wrote. This sharp rebuke highlights the dissatisfaction within some factions of the BJP regarding Modi’s handling of the border disputes with China.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Russia comes at a critical time. Scheduled for July 8 and 9, this will be his first trip to the country since the conflict in Ukraine escalated. During the visit, Modi is expected to engage in high-level discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A media briefing on June 5 revealed that the leaders would focus on the Ukraine conflict, including the sensitive issue of Indians recruited by the Russian military, alongside other global and regional concerns.

The timing of Swamy’s attack, just days before the visit, adds a layer of political intrigue to the already significant trip. The US’s concurrent meeting with QUAD members without India further complicates the geopolitical landscape. Swamy’s reference to Modi as a ‘Panchatantra Bat’—a creature from Indian folklore known for its adaptability—suggests a critique of Modi’s perceived vacillation between major global powers.
