The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the strict Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-4 restrictions will remain in place in Delhi-NCR until at least December 2, in light of the worsening air quality in the region. The directive comes as air pollution levels continue to soar, pushing the Air Quality Index (AQI) into the “severe” category across several parts of the capital and its surrounding areas.
The decision underscores the judiciary’s intervention in tackling the alarming pollution levels that have persisted despite seasonal improvements typically observed during this period. The court emphasized that immediate and stringent action was necessary to safeguard public health and prevent further deterioration of air quality.
