Supreme Court Grants Interim Relief To Bengal SSC Teachers, Sets Strict Recruitment Deadlines

na

In a major development in the ongoing West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment case, the Supreme Court has granted interim relief to teacher candidates, directing the state government to complete all recruitment procedures by December 31, 2025.

A bench of the apex court issued a clear mandate that advertisements for the recruitment process must be published no later than May 31, 2025. However, the court made it unequivocally clear that this relief applies solely to teacher posts and not to candidates under the Group-D category.

Stressing the seriousness of the matter, the Supreme Court also warned the West Bengal government that any failure to meet these deadlines could result in penalties. The court's directives come amid a long-standing legal tussle surrounding alleged irregularities in the appointments made through the SSC in the state.
