Amid growing speculation regarding the future of the popular Ladki Bahin Yojana in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a significant clarification, assuring citizens that the scheme will not be discontinued. Addressing a gathering at the two-day state convention of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Shirdi, Fadnavis strongly refuted rumors surrounding the welfare initiative.
“The claims about discontinuing Ladki Bahin Yojana and other similar schemes are entirely unfounded. I want to make it clear that all schemes implemented for the benefit of women, the downtrodden, and marginalized people will continue,” CM Fadnavis declared, putting to rest concerns about the future of the much-discussed initiative.
The clarification comes amid widespread public interest and media reports that suggested the state government may scale back or end the initiative that has garnered praise for its positive impact on women’s welfare. The Ladki Bahin Yojana, designed to empower women through various benefits, has become a crucial part of the state’s social safety net.
Fadnavis added that in addition to the continuation of current schemes, the government remains committed to fulfilling all promises made in its electoral manifesto. The reassurance comes as the state gears up for future policy rollouts and aims to address pressing issues of governance, particularly in the welfare sector.
The issue of security was also highlighted during the speech as Fadnavis raised concerns about the rising number of Bangladeshi intruders caught in Maharashtra with fake documents. He acknowledged the challenges the government faces in expelling these intruders and assured that appropriate measures are being taken to address the problem.
