Tejashwi Yadav, the prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), stirred controversy on Friday by labeling renowned poll strategist Prashant Kishor as a "BJP agent." Yadav's accusation comes amidst the ongoing political landscape, where Kishor's role has been scrutinized.
According to Yadav, Kishor's involvement with the BJP stems from the party's purported decline in the elections. Yadav alleged that Kishor was summoned after several rounds of voting to manipulate the narrative in favor of the BJP.
Prashant Kishor, who formerly served as the number 2 in Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) and now heads his own party, Jan Suraaj, holds significant influence in Bihar's political arena. He has managed campaigns for various political parties, adding to his prominence.
Yadav referenced statements made by his uncle, Nitish Kumar, suggesting that Kishor was appointed as the national vice president of JDU at the behest of Home Minister Amit Shah. Yadav emphasized that neither Shah nor Kishor had refuted this claim.
The relationship between Nitish Kumar and Prashant Kishor soured in 2020, with the Chief Minister asserting that he had admitted Kishor into his party under pressure from Amit Shah.
Yadav continued his allegations, stating that Kishor maintains salaried district presidents, a practice even the BJP allegedly refrains from. He accused Kishor of frequently switching allegiances and manipulating data to suit his agenda, branding him not only as a BJP agent but as someone who embodies their ideology.
Yadav's claims emerged following the circulation of a fake screenshot suggesting that the BJP had appointed Kishor as their national spokesperson. Kishor's Jan Suraaj party promptly refuted this rumor, highlighting the irony of the situation given recent discussions around fake news, particularly involving the Congress party.
